When shopping for a new chrome ceiling light it can be hard to figure out what is really going to work in your home the best. It’s easy to get sidetracked by what looks good, but to find that blend of function and fashion is the key to a successful lighting purchase. In this post I want to share some different qualities that are important in each of the different types of chrome ceiling lights so you can figure out the one that is going to make a big difference in your home.

The common types of ceiling lights that come in a chrome finish are pendant, flush mounted, semi flush mounted, and track. Each has their own specific benefits, but before you try and figure out which you need you have to figure out what you need the light for. The obvious answer is to light up a room, but what else do you need to get out of it? Are there dark corners in the room? Art on the wall that should be showcased? A specific area that should be lit more than the rest? In determining the answers to these questions you’re going to get a clear picture of which light style you need.

Pendant lights are great at lighting one specific area of the room. They don’t do a great job of providing even light across a large space, so you may need a few of them to get a lot of light. If you want to illuminate a specific area of one room, there aren’t many styles of lights that will do a better job.

Flush and semi-flush mounted chrome ceiling lights are the standard ceiling light. They will provide the most even light out of all of the different styles. If you want one centrally located fixture to light up the whole room, this is the one to go with. To get light in specific areas you may have to compliment this style with a pendant light or a lamp.

Track lighting works best for showcasing things on the wall or shining light to specific points of the room. If the track is long enough and has enough bulbs you can light an entire room, but it’s not a very efficient way to do so.

Now that you’ve seen the pros and cons of each lighting style you are much closer to figuring out what you actually need. Take the designs of lights that you really like and pair that with the style that you actually need to get the perfect chrome ceiling light for your home.
